GETTING MY MODEL ON

So, One of my New Years Resolutions was to get back into modeling. I recently I did just that. A couple weeks before my birthday last month, I signed a contract with New York Models and immediately went to New York City for the 2011 Fashion Week! I arrived two weeks before Fashion Week, got my portfolio ready and went on between five and ten castings every day for two weeks! It was really awesome, I got to meet a lot of cool people. I met some really cool models and I also got to meet of a lot of cool designers too. I did castings for some major fashion companies, like Calvin Klein,Diesel, Marc Jacobs,Rag & Bone and so many more, as corny as it sounds it was awesome just to be considered for any of the jobs. I ended up booking three shows and a photo shoot for a magizine, THREE SHOWS AND A SHOOT! I was so stoked I got them, I ended up booking Rag & Bone, Odyn Vok and J. Sabatino.

Rag and Bone was my first show, ever. The show was at 12pm but call time was 9am, So I arrived around 9am and made my way to the back. Back in the “models area” was awesome. There were tables and tables of all sorts and food and drinks and some for hair and make up. So I met up with some friends I met and we just hung out, ate and drank and got ready for the show. The show was held in a huge warehouse, every seat in the house was taken.I have never seen so many cameras in one room and they were all there for us. I was pretty nervous before the show, I mean it was my first ever runway and it was in front of a completely packed house, for a huge company. As I anxiously waited for my turn to walk the runway I just thought how incredibly awesome it was that I was about to do a runway show for Fashion Week and I wasn’t nervous anymore. Then it was my turn, I walked out the end of the runway and paused for some pictures, flashing we going off the whole time, then made my way back. It was such a rush! Couldn’t wait to do it the next day for someone else.

The next day it was the Odyn Vok show. This show was very different than Rag & Bone, but not in a bad way at all. This show was very dark and sort of gothic, all black or dark red clothes and whatnot. The show was my favorite out of the three I did, It was held in the basement of what used to be CBGB’s with very low lighting and candles everywhere. Again “backstage” was full of food and drinks, make up and hair products. The make up artists painted our hands like skeletons, which was REALLY fucking cool. They also used %100 all vegan make-up from a company named “Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics” which was awesome. Then it was show time, again every seat in the house was full, a lot of people were even standing and tons of cameras everywhere. When it was my time to walk I walked right out with confidence and had a blast. Odyn Vok is an amazing designer and a super cool dude, check his stuff out.

My third and final show was for J. Sabintio. This show was a little different from the others, it was more like a presentation. We just had to walk out on stage and stand around for a few minutes then go off stage and repeat, about six times total for a total time of over an hour. But there was also a little catch, we had to walk through a sand pit, yeah..in the middle of the stage was a sand pit and a man playing an accordion.

After all of the shows I had a photo shoot for an online magazine called “Fashionista” which should be out very shortly. You can also see my pictures on GQ.com and STYLE.com and of course NEWYORKMODELS.COM and NATHALIE-MODELS.com

Oh, Did I mention I got over $2,200 dollars worth of free clothing from Rag & Bone?! and Also free clothes from J. Sabintio! So awesome! I already have potential contracts going through Germany,Asia and France, so fucking stoked! I can’t wait to do more modeling!
