SEATTLE!

Last month I decided to go on a week vacation and go visit really good friend/ex girlfriend,Tessa in Seattle.Let me start off by saying, I love Seattle. Seattle is so awesome, it’s full of amazing vegan foods, breathe taking sights and just has an all around great feel to it.

I flew in Friday morning around 10 am, and Tessa met me at the airport and then took me right to an all vegan doughnut shop. This place was beyond delicious, they had every kind of doughnut I could think of, if you’re in the area check them out, it’s called The Might O. After we had breakfast we took a nap then went out to Pikes Place. I had always heard about Pikes Place and seen it on T.V, and it’s just as cool and interesting as I thought. Tons of homemade stuff and food everywhere and even a comic book store. Well anyway, we walked around there for awhile and then decided to head back to the house and get something to eat. We went to an all vegan place called Pizza Pi, that was the BEST vegan pizza that I have ever had.

The next day we woke up and went downtown to the Seattle Vegetarian/Vegan Festival. Holy shit, this thing was HUGE and so many free samples of everything ever! All the things I thought I would never eat again they had a vegan alternative for.It was so much fun, and we got a lot of awesome recipes as well. After the festival we took a walk, got some food and had a little picnic on a huge hill overlooking most of Seattle, super nice and relaxing.

Tessa took me to get brunch on Sunday, I know I just said this but honestly, it was the BEST vegan breakfast ever! We ordered a tofu scramble breakfast burrito, biscuits and gravy and ‘cream cheese’ crapes. YES, vegan cream cheese crapes. And after brunch we took and trip to the Seattle Zoo. After spent a few hours walking around and checking out all of the awesome animals, and there were a lot of awesome animals there, we decided to head back to the house and chilled out and watched a documentary on cuttlefish.

Monday was my last real day to hangout so we packed the day full of super fun stuff. We woke up early got breakfast and then took a cruise around the Seattle harbor. The cruise was really cool and we saw some awesome sights. After the harbor cruise we headed to the Seattle Aquarium. I love everything about the ocean and really like going to aquariums and wow, this aquarium was really cool. Seeing how the octopus is one of my all time favorite animals we spent a lot of time at her tank just watching her hangout. After checking out the whole aquarium and all of its cool animals we decided to head out. Next on our list was the Space Needle! You can see the whole city from the top of this thing and the breathe taking view is a lot to take in.After spending some time and taking some pictures of the city and whatnot we started to get hungry. This time Tessa took me to a all vegan Chinese place, where we got a ton of really good mock meats and veggies. After wards, we went back to the Space Needle to check out that breathe taking view under the stars, then called it a night.

Man, Seattle is awesome. I can not wait to go back.

ANOTHER NYC TRIP.

Last week I took the bus up to New York City to spend a week with one of my all time favorite people, Dizzle. I got on the bus at 12:30 am and Dizzle was waiting at the bus stop when I arrived in China Town at 7am, then the fun began. Dizzle and I are very much alike, we are both tall, thin and socially awkward and hate on most people for no real reason. The only real differences are I’m straight edge and vegan, which he instantly starts giving me shit for..We head back to his place, drop off my stuff and hit the city.

The second or third day I was there we went to the Natural History Museum, I love me some ocean and dinosaurs. The museum was huge and packed with floors and floors of awesome stuff. Every floor was something new, one was the ocean, one was dinosaurs another was Africa, then China and so on. Anyway, we had a lot of and and after a few hours decided to head over to Central Park.

After hanging with Central Park for a minute we went back to Dizzles and met up with a good friend (who recently moved from Richmond to NYC) Amanda Davis and went to one of my all time favorite places, Foodswings.Foodswings is an all vegan “fast food joint” with a menu that covers the walls and food that will blow your mind, so good. After Foodswings we walked around the city for a couple hours and then met up with another good friend Sam and then headed back to her place.

The next day was really exciting for me because I had a meeting with New York Models! Dizzle and I made our way to Manhattan and walked into an extremely fancy office and I nervously walked to the front desk. Turns out, I had no reason to be nervous at all, they were thrilled to meet with me, loved my “look” and we starting taking test shots. Meeting with them was awesome and I go back in a week!

Before I knew it, it was my last day and I realized I hadn’t been to Lula’s! In case you don’t know, Lulas is the worlds best vegan ice cream and a absolute must have for me. Well, After I got my ice cream I hopped back on “China Bus” and was on my way back home to Va, Always an awesome time.

NATURAL BRIDGE AND CAVERNS

Last week Chad and I headed to Virginia’s natural bridge and caverns for another weekly adventure. Neither of us had ever gone before and were pretty excited to see the huge rock bridge and to explore the deepest caverns on the east coast. So we made the drive, bought our tickets and decided to check the bridge out first. The bridge is so huge, twenty stories of pure rock, I don’t know why,but I did not expect it to be so fascinating and visually pleasing. It was also really neat to see that George Washington’s initials were actually carved into the bridge. This might sound lame to some people, but I got really into it. I was just thinking how long this bridge had been there, how many people had seen and explored it, I find that kind of stuff really interesting. After walking around and under the bridge, surrounding woods and talking to some people about it we decided to head toward the caverns.

As our tour of the deepest caverns on the east coast began the guide informed us that the caverns were found just before the turn of the twentieth century, again think of all the things that have happened the before now, so cool..Our tour of the caverns lasted about a hour and we went down something like thirty or more stories down into the Earth and the guide told us all sorts of cool and interesting facts. It was really neat being that far down in the ground, the rocks are so many different colors, shapes and sizes. So after walking around all the different parts of the cavern the tour ended with a story of a ghost who has been heard on the other side of the caverns where no one has ever been.

I have to say, another awesome adventure complete. I would recommend checking the natural bridge of Virginia out if you ever have the chance, it’s really cool.

PRESIDENT’S PARK AND GO-KARTS

A couple of weeks ago my friend Chad and I went to a place called President’s Park to hangout with giant sculptures of presidents. We walked up to the door wondering if they were even open, because there were no other cars in the whole parking lot, saw they were indeed open and stepped inside. We walked in to see there was only one person in the whole place and she greeted us with a surprised look and “yes?”. We asked for our tickets and were off to explore. All the sculptures were really good, kind of weird but good. Is it weird the JFK sculpture had a big whole which looked a gun shot right on the back on his head/neck? Well anyway after a couple hours (tops) we decided to leave and go Go-Karts Plus, which we had passed earlier.

We pulled up to Go-Karts Plus full of excitement and ready to have fun. Turns out no one else was there, no lines or anything! Chad and I got our tickets and head for the European track first, then stepped in up to the NASCAR track, then went straight to the arcade! What a fun day!
